Web Designer

We are currently seeking a Web Designer experienced in interactive design to join our team. The right individual will have experience designing effective user interfaces for high-volume websites, along with a strong foundation in design principles, and a passion for great design, semantic markup, and web standards. The Web Designer will have a detailed understanding of how interactive experiences should function, look and feel and how to effectively implement designs into technology frameworks. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively with the design team, project managers, web developers, content developers and marketing strategists.

Responsibilities:

  • Creation of visual interfaces for new websites and enhancements to existing ones, with a focus on optimizing user experience and site navigation and usability
  • Maintain, update and create graphics for our extensive and growing portfolio of education websites
  • Produce high quality info graphics and format content to create a consistent user experience keeping business objectives in mind
  • Work closely with our in-house team and/or external designers
  • Develop design prototypes, wireframes and functional specs at various stages of the design process
  • Produce and execute concepts for a better user experience through usability, content discovery, readability and conversion optimization
  • Collaboration with Content, Marketing and Programming teams
  • Manage multiple projects and time-sensitive deadlines

Requirements:

  • 3+ years professional web design experience
  • B.A. in Design or related discipline
  • Basic knowledge of HTML & CSS
  • Experience coding PHP & JavaScript a plus
  • Mastery of Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator; InDesign a plus
  • Experience utilizing Google Website optimizer and implementing A/B Testing to create and optimize landing pages that are served across millions of users
  • Experience marketing financial and subprime products is a plus
  • Offers new ideas and communicates effectively
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills
  • Strong online portfolio of web design work
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of web standards, user experience, basic design principles and usability
  • Good knowledge of best practices for online content creation and curation (incl. readability, typography, text-formatting etc.)
